The Annual
Lexington Community Charity Event for Barbara’s Friends (Children's
Hospital of SW Florida Cancer Fund) is held annually. Most of the
activities at Lexington participate in some manner to support this
charity.
As
one of the major activities at Lexington, Bocce is participating in
the charity fundraiser for Barbara's Friends. The Barbara's Friends
Charity Bocce Shootout event will be held here at the Lexington
bocce courts on Saturday, February 25, starting with a signup for
the Shootout and coffee & Danish from
9:00 to 9:30am.
This
year the same successful approach as last few years is being taken.
The event is open to all Lexington members and guests. Everyone
enjoys the event, the fellowship, the fun, and supporting the
charity.
The Bocce Charity
Event will be held with a one on one Bocce Shootout played for a
couple of hours followed by a luncheon and a raffle for prizes.
The
luncheon will be immediately after the completion of the shootout
(between 11:00 and
11:30 am) in the Grill Room and consist of tuna and chicken
croissants, fresh fruit, potato salad, cookies, and drinks.
For
this, a minimum donation of $15 (more if you can) per person going
directly to the charity is requested. A box will be available to
drop your donation in and delivered unopened to the Lexington office
as support from the Lexington Bocce Club. Donations can be in the
following form:
-Checks made out to Barbara’s Friends Charity. (best method for tax
deductions)
-Cash in an envelope.
-Signed slip of paper in an envelope that specifies a donation
amount to be charged to your member number.
-If
you plan to attend the annual Barbara’s Friends extravaganza at the
clubhouse, place a signed slip of paper with your club number and
the number of tickets you want in an envelope and drop it in the
box. Bob Lotz will get the tickets to you when they become
available.
Only the total
amount donated will be released. There will be no list of donors or
amounts donated by individuals recorded or published.
In
addition, one raffle ticket will be provided to each participant and
additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the Bocce Event to win
some nice donated prizes. All proceeds of the raffle will go
directly to the Barbara’s Friends Charity.
